Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Shahr-e-Ara

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kabul University of Medical Sciences was established alongside the founding of the Faculty of Medicine. In addition to teaching and training students, the provision of healthcare services has been an integral part of its agenda. For an extended period, this hospital served as a replacement for the central clinic within the framework of the Aliabad Health Institutions. Following the events of May 7, 1978, it became involved in teaching and advancing student internships at the State Medical Institute, with faculty members active in all obstetrics and gynecology hospitals, such as Rabia Balkhi Hospital and Malali Zizenton Hospital.

After the internal medicine section of Aliabad Hospital relocated from the Shahr-e-Ara area to a new building currently situated in Aliabad, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology transitioned to a teaching clinic in Shahr-e-Ara, where its services were initially provided. Due to the efforts of previous officials at Kabul University of Medical Sciences, the teaching clinic for obstetrics and gynecology in Shahr-e-Ara was inaugurated on March 14, 2014, after being equipped and renovated by the university, and began operations at the clinic level.

This clinic officially commenced its activities in 2015 and was the first teaching center for obstetrics and gynecology in the country operating under Kabul University of Medical Sciences "Abu Ali ibn Sina." In 2020, it was officially upgraded from a clinic to a teaching hospital with a capacity of 40 beds and currently has 30 active beds.

It is noteworthy that this hospital has been equipped with advanced tools and facilities following the establishment of the Islamic Emirate government. Notable features at this hospital include a fully equipped oxygen supply center, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a well-equipped laboratory, among others. Its major services include:
