Academic Affairs Office

The Academic Affairs Office of Kabul University of Medical Sciences, "Abu Ali ibn Sina," has been a vital and fundamental part of the university since its inception. This office advances the academic programs and activities of the university to enhance both quantitative and qualitative aspects. Following the renaming of the "Faculty of Medicine" to the "Kabul Governmental Institute of Medicine" in 1358 (1979), this office was officially established as a crucial section for the effective management and implementation of academic and teaching programs. Professor Dr. Mohammad Nader Hadi, a faculty member of the Emergency Surgery Department and Trauma at Aliabad Teaching Hospital, served as the first Academic Deputy in this capacity.

Today, the Academic Affairs Office carries one of the key objectives of the university and, after the university presidency, is responsible for leading and advancing university affairs in accordance with existing laws and regulations. The activities of the Academic Affairs Office are outlined in Article 20, Section 3 of the Law on Higher Education, as well as in Article 11 of the "Regulation on Academic Activities of Higher Education Institutions' Staff," which guides its operations.

Thus, the Academic Affairs Office of Kabul University of Medical Sciences "Abu Ali ibn Sina" is committed to enhancing its operational effectiveness by improving faculty capacities, organizing scientific conferences and seminars for academic staff, establishing academic relations with reputable educational institutions both domestically and internationally, and facilitating experiences that can be effectively utilized by faculty members within this educational institution.

Additionally, it oversees programs for specialization, master's degrees, and doctoral studies; curriculum development; quality assurance; monitoring faculty nominations for educational programs both within and outside the country; convening university scientific councils; academic appointments and promotions; oversight of faculty programs and related committees; assessing scientific program needs; creating new disciplines according to market demands; monitoring the strategic planning process; preparing and organizing plans; ensuring their implementation across the university; and providing annual reports on strategic plan execution. Monitoring the proceedings of publication councils and scholarship committees is also a fundamental goal of this vice presidency.

Vision

The Academic Affairs vice presidency anticipates that by facilitating effective, credible, and comprehensive scientific research, introducing faculty members for further studies at various levels both domestically and internationally, updating curricula, developing master's and doctoral programs at the university level, implementing specialization programs, organizing short-term training courses, establishing scientific relationships with educational institutions domestically and internationally, and enforcing regulations, it will elevate the reputation of this university nationally and internationally as a credible academic institution.

Mission

To achieve this vision, the Academic Affairs vice presidency is committed to adhering to the five-year strategic plan of this educational institution. As an active and essential part of the university, it aims to utilize effective experiences from its skilled faculty and staff while leveraging new technologies to foster a culture of scientific research. It seeks to strengthen collaboration among departmental faculty, faculties, and other academic medical institutions in the country. This office is dedicated to continuous efforts to enhance education aimed at improving health outcomes and the quality of healthcare services at both national and international levels based on the demands of the scientific community.
