Medical Education Development (EDC) Directorate Introduction
Introduction
The specialized training program was established within the framework of the Faculty of Medicine at Nangarhar University, which was under the officials of the Faculty of Medicine at Kabul University. At that time, faculty members from Kabul University traveled daily according to a prepared schedule to facilitate the education of students at Nangarhar University and to provide specialized training.
Following several years of transformations in the country, all responsibilities of this program were transferred to Kabul University’s Faculty of Medicine as deemed necessary by relevant authorities. Candidates who met the criteria could enroll in this program after passing a specialized exam. After the elevation of Kabul University’s Faculty of Medicine to the Kabul State Medical Institute, the Directorate of Medical Education Development was established in 1366 AH (1987 AD), with Dr. Najibullah Faridun, a faculty member of Pathology Department, serving as its first director. This program continues to operate within the Directorate of Medical Education Development at Kabul University of Medical Sciences "Abu Ali ibn Sina." The main responsibilities of the Directorate include advancing master's programs, organizing and managing specialized training programs, and collaborating on curriculum reviews for the faculties at Kabul University of Medical Sciences "Abu Ali ibn Sina."
Currently, this directorate features a skills station room for observational learning and a large skills lab for practical training of students, which was inaugurated and put into operation in the winter of 1397 AH (2018 AD).
